Porsche 911 Speedster

The speedster was inspired by the 356 speedster of the 1950s and it was based on the 911 3.2 Carrera . It had a more steeply raked windscreen than the standard 911 in a lightweight aluminium frame . The hood was lower and sat atop smaller , frameless side windows. When the hood was lowered it was stored under a twin humped plastic panel .

The majority of the 2065 Speedsters built had the wide Turbo look front and rear wings , although a few were built with the narrow body , whilst a handful were slantnoses . Specification was simple , with manually operated windows , seats and heater . There were no rear seats because the area was taken up with the hood cover , although there was some storage space below it . The engine was a 3.2 litre  unit rated at 231 bhp .
