Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS
The 911 Carrera 2.7 RS was developed as a homologation special to allow Porsche to compete in GT racing . It was developed from the 911S with the engine capacity increased to 2681cc to push power to 210bhp which was a useful increase over the 911S`s 190bhp .
The main performance gains were achieved by reducing weight . The roof , wings and bonnet were made of thinner steel , while thewindscreen and rear quarter windows used thinner glass . The rear arches were flared by 50mm in order to accomodate the wider 7 inch Fuchs alloys and there was the option of the distinctive "ducktail" spoiler . Also optional were the Carrera side stripes in red , black , blue or green with the Fuchs wheel centres colour coded to match . Suspension was tweaked with stiffer Koni dampers , uprated roll bars and mountings although the brakes remained as standard 911S items.
